Financing Your Business

Organizing Your Business

The State of Connecticut has made it easy to organize your business.  However, in certain circumstances, you may be well-advised to utilize the services of a qualified lawyer.  We can guide you and demystify the process.

Selecting a Legal Structure for Your Business - One of the most basic questions for a start-up is what legal form to choose.  See the attached for a description of the different types of organizational structures and their respective advantages and disadvantages

Partnership Agreement Checklist - A handshake is not adequate for prudently starting a business partnership. See the attached for things to consider. These agreements are legally binding documents and it would be advisable to use a qualified attorney for assistance.

How to Form an LLC in Connecticut - You can "do it yourself" or hire an agent to do it for you.  To do it yourself for a $120 filing fee, below is the link for the Articles of Organization form. Scroll further down the page and click to download. You will also need to download the Application for Reservation of a Name form. This has a $60 filing fee.
